Our Approach

Over 40 years combined experience in the viticultural industry

With experience managing their own vineyard, running a commercial winery & creating award-winning wine brands, busy visitor attractions, festivals and events, Tom & Ben Bunting have extensive knowledge of all aspects of vineyard life and development.

From soil to grape, we believe in a holistic approach to vine management maximising harvest quality & returns whilst establishing sustainable long term production.

Ben’s fifteen years as a winemaker include gold awards from the East Anglian and UK Vineyard Associations. Tom manages vines across Essex, Suffolk and Hertfordshire recruiting & training his own team of experienced, local viticultural workers from his home base at Foxes Field Vineyard, Suffolk.

With a strong belief in investing in and supporting local people, TBVM supports the government apprenticeship scheme in partnership with Plumpton College.

In addition, we are Gangmasters and Labour Abuse Authority (GLAA) licenced labour providers committed to responsible and ethical recruitment and training and members of the Association of Labour Providers (ALP).

“I am proud to recruit & train local workers & invest in the future of the region’s viticulture industry”

— TOM BUNTING

Wine production is one of the fastest growing agricultural sectors in the UK.

A study published in the Journal of Land Science identified Essex and Suffolk as having ideal viticultural conditions similar to those of the Champagne region in France 30 years ago.

The viticultural climate in Essex was found to be better than the current British Wine heartland of Sussex and Kent, setting the stage for significant growth and expansion in future years in both viticulture and cellar door and wine tourism.

Vineyard establishment is increasingly popular with landowners and farmers looking to diversify their holdings, or just to create their own vintage.

Viticulture is a flexible way to diversify and almost any landowner can get involved. The UK wine industry is booming with over 800 vineyards already established, an expected two million vines to be planted in 2019 and Wine GB predict output to rise to 10 million bottles by 2020, a 66% increase from 2017. By 2040 Wine GB forecast UK sales will reach 40 million bottles and £1 billion in sale value.

TBVM manages over 100 acres of vines across Essex, Suffolk and Hertfordshire and has contracts in place to supply leading wineries in the UK with grapes to produce still and sparkling wines. For more information and to discuss your vineyard, contact Tom: tom@vineyardmanagement.co.uk
